The Scale has been Scott’s hardtail cross-country race bike since 2004. The choices within the line are many, and as a result, it’s easy to find a Scale that meets your needs and enables you to push your limits. At first, the Scale was offered in aluminum or their HMF-blend carbon fiber blend. Scott now offers their HMX and HMX-SL carbon fiber along with aluminum and HMF frames. For several years Scott offered their “Contessa” models with parts spec oriented toward women.

As the years have gone on, the bike has seen tremendous refinement. The seat stays have gotten more compliant, the top tube lighter, and the downtube and chainstays stiffer. The front ends have grown longer and lower, and the head tube is slack. The latest version has an adjustable head angle, which can be changed by 0.6 degrees to further dial in the handling.
