We are excited to offer up a very special piece of mountain bike history as we celebrate the legend of John Tomac’s Yeti C-26. Numbered to 26 and signed by both Zap and John, this limited edition print captures the energy of the early 90s that instilled the passion of mountain biking into so many of us.

Shot at the 1990 UCI Mountain Bike World Championships in Durango, Colorado, in Zap’s 38 years of journalism, he celebrates this photo as “the best one I ever had the opportunity to shoot”.

Imagine the moment when Zap leaned against a tree and captured Tomac barreling towards him down the Purgatory Mountain downhill course. Fully committed at speeds north of 40 miles an hour, Tomac, with his mouth wide open, was tucked in behind his Cinelli drop bars, the Tioga Disc wheel thundering behind him with gravel being tossed every which way. This was just moments before Tomac would launch himself and his glued-together Yeti C-26 over a set of water bars that would mark one of the riskiest moments of his career. “I can only measure about 2-3 other times in my career I took that level of risk,” recalled Tomac. Although Tomac would miss the podium by one spot that day, his bike would go down in the history books as the most iconic mountain bikes of all time.
