to be used.
The Giant Revolt is a lightweight, race-ready, and endurance-friendly gravel bike that’s itching to do anything from bike packing to gravel racing. For over ten years, it’s been a part of the Giant lineup. The latest models come with a flip chip on the rear drop-out, loftier tire clearance, and a D-Fuse handlebar and seatpost for a more comfortable ride. A longer reach, steepened head tube, and lower bottom bracket create a slight racer geometry for a more responsive and stable ride.

With over a decade under its belt as one of the first gravel-specific bikes on the market, previous models were aluminum and had a more compact frame. Current models include the carbon Advanced Pro 0 and 1, which include the D-Fuse composite handlebars, and the carbon Advanced 1, 2, and 3, which come with the XR D-Fuse aluminum bars. For an incredibly versatile, comfortable, all-around gravel bike designed for the challenges of rough roads while keeping the ride fun and exciting, look to the Revolt.
2022 Giant Revolt Review - A TPC Quick-Take
In the expanding world of gravel riding, the Giant Revolt stands as a top contender, staking its claim in the rough and tumble of off-road terrains while trying to offer road-bike-like nimbleness.
Pros:
- Versatile frame: The Giant Advanced-Grade Composite offers durability and lightweight performance, making the Revolt a formidable gravel grinder.
- D-Fuse Technology: This tech on both the seatpost and handlebars provides flexibility, absorbing shocks and vibrations from rugged roads and enhancing ride comfort.
- Wide tire clearance: With clearance for up to 53mm tires in the "long" flip chip position or 45mm in the "short" option, the Revolt offers riders the choice to go wider for more comfort and traction or stay nimble with narrower options.
- Conducive geometry: Blending road and off-road designs, the Revolt's geometry makes it adept at long hauls on mixed terrains without compromising agility.
Cons:
- Weight concerns: Especially with the aluminum models, the Revolt can tip the scales more than some of its gravel peers, potentially affecting its climbing and acceleration.
- Component choices: As with many bikes at varying price points, not all components might be up to par with the standards some riders might expect, particularly concerning the stock wheelset and brakes on lower-end models.
Bottom Line:
The 2023 Giant Revolt is a solid all-around gravel bike, offering a blend of performance and comfort. It doesn’t necessarily redefine the category, but it holds its own, providing reliable service to those looking to dabble in gravel riding or even tackle longer adventures. If you're after the pinnacle of design or the lightest gravel rig out there, you might find some aspects wanting. However, if a balanced, reliable, and versatile off-road companion is what you seek, the Revolt is more than worthy of consideration.
